Advantages: Electric Jukebox that allows track downloads if the track isnt pre-listed.

Disadvantages: Increasing beer prices across ALL pubs.

The Sir Charles Napier in Blackburn. Located well within the centre of Blackburn is a public house that caters primarily to what is considered by many as the "alternative lifestyle". Known as a Rock and Metal pub, it has been one of Blackburn's most successful pubs for many years.

During my days in college, the Napier was my preferred place to hang out and socialise, due to it being the main place in the whole of Blackburn to offer Rock music on tap without fear of discrimination or idiots completely destroying the environment. My, how times have changed in those 9 years...

The current owners, Mick and Rosa, have been in the Napier for a number of years, and are both welcoming and polite, and have redecorated the pub, giving it a new lease of life. While it won't blow your mind, it is certainly the sort of environment any metal-head or rocker will appreciate.

An electric jukebox replaced the old CD one, and a pinball machine and Fußball (table football) is sure to keep you busy, and if not, there's a beautiful pool table in the adjoining room, completely black with silver and a match-quality black cloth with American Billiards balls. You will have to ask for the rests though, as they're kept in the back.

There are plenty of themed nights available for you to go along to, but as with all public houses these days, the price of beer limits many from just how many of these events you can attend, and if I were to recommend one night you must go to, any night Kerry Burnout is DJ'ing will have you moshing.

But, if you've turned into more of a "bed before 9pm" sort of person, then go down and have a coffee and a chat to the folks.

It is a five minute walk from the main train station and boulevard for bus travel, and a taxi service is around the back of the premises, available for private hire.

Summary: Go and buy a beer there if your in Blackburn.
