Solid, solid, solid. It is a chain pub, marketing itself on the "classier" end of the spectrum that serves food.

I have been to five Slug and Lettuces I can remember, and all have been fairly similar. My latest visit was two weeks ago in Beckenham to what used to be a Hogs Head which they have converted. My experience met my pre-conceptions and we had a good night. Saying that, for a Saturday night it wasn't packed my any stretch of the imagination, but actually that was a positive for us in a big group.

Actually in Bromley, our local pub after work used to be a Slug as well, and we enjoyed some boozy afternoons on a Friday.

The booze is not the cheapest, but not stupidly overpriced. You are looking about £2.70 for a pint. The food actually is good pub grub. You will pay about £7 for main meal (burger and chips and the like), but they are big portions and on the quality side. I have always likde the Slug and Lettuce chips to be honest (big, fat efforts).

The decor tends to be fairly good as well. A big advantage of the Slug chain always is the leather sofas which are good to lie back on and sip a well earned beer!

So in summary, this chain of pubs is not going to shake your world, but are decent pubs which won't disappoint.
