Advantages: Near my gafff
Disadvantages: Too many other punters
This pub has grown in popularity over the last couple of years, largely due to the inexorable gentrification of Clapham from a scummy extension of Brixton to mecca for young middle class urbanites. And they are exactly who you will find drinking at the Sun in their droves.
It's not a bad bar if you get there early enough and stake out a claim on some seats, has quite a funky upstairs which can be hired out for functions and an extended beer garden with an additional outside bar which is only open in the summer months.
Last time I visited was about two weeks ago, and it took me nearly as long as that to get served. In fact when I eventually did get to the bar, I bought two rounds becuase I couldn't handle the prospect of a return trip. Drinks are slightly expensive considering it's basically a glorified boozer trying (and succeeding) to attract the coctail swilling Saturday night bar hopping crowd.
There's food available, but most of the clientele are too drunk to think about eating, and on busy nights the place is so over subscribed that you're more than likely to find yourself sitting on The Pavement in Old Town.
To summarise, it's a nicely decked-out environment to have a few drinks if it's not peak hours, otherwise I'd only use this establishment as a meeting point before going on somewhere else later.
