The slightly shabby decor gives it character, as well as a better atmosphere due to the people there being there mainly to drink and listen to music, rather than pick up girls and vomit. The upstairs music venue is good, showcasing local bands at earsplitting volume, with a snack vending machine en-route, what could be more useful?. I thought the only pub I would ever find that served bottled budvar would be my uni bar, i was fortunately wrong! There is a good selection of beers and lagers apart from budvar here though, as well as cider and alsopops for the less discerning drinker. The appletree shies away from any pretensions to being a trendy pu, so it's a little rubby, and, being in Lowesmoor can tend to attract a different clientele than "RSVP", but in my opinion, this is all for the better!
