Advantages: Brew pub, good food, close to city center, docks and Liverpool1
Disadvantages: Old building but adds to character
We went to the Baltic fleet for the first time in a year or so last Sunday. The staff told us that the kitchen had come back under the pub's control from the franchise that ran it last time. the pub it's self is a bit scruffy but the atmosphere, ppl and staff made it a brilliant place to be.
My partner and I had an excelent 2 course roast dinner by a roaring log fire.
We had home-made roast tomato soup and stuffed portabello mushrooms to start and roast rib eye beef and welsh lamb with ALL the trimmings for our mains. The food was well portioned and Brilliant value @ 9.95 for the 2 courses!
The staff were very good and were willing to answer any questions about the magnificent building and it's past and to talk beer as the pub has it's own brewery in the cellar. They mentioned refurbishment works and restoration to come in the summer so hopefuly they will be able to restore the building to it's full former glory whilst expanding their brewery and cellar space.
All in all we had a great time in this experience of a pub, we only stopped in for a pint and stayed for 4 hours!
Summary: Real ale brew pub full of old world charm, great food and dangerously good beer
