I would consider The Cock Horse to be my local pub, ok it's a 5 minute drive from where I live but it is the pub I visit most often and the one which my frends and I can often be found at. The Cock Horse is a lovely pub/restaurant located in the village of Detling. Having read up about the pub, I discovered that there has been a building on the spot since about the 14th Century. The name comes from the fact that the building used to be a stable that housed a fresh horse (known as a Cock or trace horse) to help carriages on their way up the steep hill.
