I am wondering if Mrs Smith might have some sort of grudge against the establishment or the owners (who are themselves local to the village), as that statement was a complete & utter lie. I understand that there is still some work to be done, but after a period of under 12 months, they have done a ... more

The Crown is a great pub. It offers a family run, family friendly atmosphere. Since the new owners arrived they have invested a lot of money & time into making it a success. The pub is cleaner than any of the others in the surrounding area, they have a beer garden with a heated smokers shelter & kids play area. The kitchens have been totally refurbished since they took over, which may account for others bad views on the food aspect, but since the refurbishment the kitchen is spotless & the food is fantastic. The pub is home to the local football club, which it sponsors, so can get a little lively in the evenings of a weekend, which only adds to a great ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on The Crown Inn

Having been to the crown a few time since the new owners have taken over..here are my views
If you are under 18 then this is the pub for you..The landlord is happy to serve drinks to underage kids.
The children are allowed to run freely throughtout the pub, sometimes a bit to much...also allowed to climb on the furniture and generally run riot, but if you have kids and you are happy with this then why not give the place a visit.
The food, what food..it has been a long time since they offered anything other than a packet of crisps
This pub really needs to get its act together.....need I say more

My girlfriend lives in Anstey and The Crown has become our local haunt. It offers a friendly local drinking environment with an excellent selection of beers, wines and spirits. Prices are slightly cheaper than those in the city centre bars but still not a patch on the good old Student Union. A pint of lager is around £1.80, bitter is around £1.60 and a large glass of wine is about £2.00. Every Tuesday is quiz night, which is extremely popular and is often an intensely fought contest between regular teams for a substantial cash ...  Read the complete review
