Advantages: Lively, entertaining pub. Student discount with the Scream Card.

Disadvantages: Can get extremely busy during matchday and quite expensive if you're not a student.

Handily located between two of Cardiff's biggest student areas, Roath and Cathays the George is a very lively pub. Whilst maybe lacking in 'old school' pub-iness due its bright, 'funky' interior and general student vibe it's a good place to go if you enjoy sports as most big events (esp. Football) often draw large crowds.

If you are student the prices are reasonable with the aid of a Scream card (available at the bar) otherwise they're not far off Cardiff town centre prices.

There's plenty of entertainment here including the various TV's, a jukebox, several pool tables, gamblers, fruit machines and even a couple of amusement arcade style prize winning machines.

Out the back is one of the nicer smoking areas I've been in and its a surprisingly pleasant place to sit and enjoy a pint or a meal in the summer.

The food is pretty standard for this kind a place and is probably on par with weatherspoons in terms of quality and price. Drink selection and the cellar keeping is fine (never had a dodgy pint anyway) although if you're after real ales you'll likely (as in most - but not all Cardiff pubs) be a little disappointed.

Summary: Great for students, maybe one to miss if you like a quiet pint.
