Overall a nice friendly pub if you can get in

I visited 'The Only Running Footman' Pub last week with a friend as had never been there before and he recommended it to me as he works in Green Park. The pub itself is pretty small and located in the heart of the Mayfair close to Regent Street and only about 10 minutes walk to Picadilly Circus.

It is just off Berkeley Square in a fairly quiet road called Charles Street. It's nice to go to a pub that is not on a busy street in London.

The only thing I would say on entering is the pub is pretty small and not that easy to get a drink at the bar if busy like it was as it's a bit cramped in there. Having said that the atmosphere is extremely welcoming and friendly and reminds me of a little country pub really but in the heart of London. The bar offers a wide range of real ales and and premium drafts for you to choose from so there is a good selection. There is also a wine list that offers an alternative as well. We didn't eat downstairs in the bar as there were not seats but there are bar snacks and dinner served in the bar 7 days a week.

Once you go out of the downstairs bar and climb the flight of stairs you find a 1st floor dining room. This is very elegant and serves lunch during the week and dinner on Saturday evenings. The charirs are all velvet and look very comfortable and the tables are and white table cloths are in pristine condition.

Overall I was quite impressed by this small pub but my only reservation would be that unless you get a table in the bar downstairs it can get crowded fairly quickly with not that many people so get there early in the evening otherwise you may miss out.
