The Prince of Wales in cardiff is part of the Wetherspoons chain. I'm sure you are familiar with them, cheap drink but at the expense of music and a lively atmosphere. This pub is no different, only it is bigger than your average Wetherspoons.

The Prince of Wales from the outside looks quite spectacular. It used to be a theatre and you can still see the teirs where the seating used to be when you are inside. The ceiling is high and it is actually quite attractive.

You get what you expect inside, cheap drinks which lets face it is why we go to Wetherspoons. The Prince of Wales has plenty of seating both upstairs and down and there is an attractive stair case leading to the upstairs floor. Very nice.

At night it gets very busy. Students rule in the week and on the weekend you can expect a slightly rougher crowd. You still get your slattering of sad old men staring into their pints which is common in most Wetherspoons but as it is so big they aren't so noticable.

As Wetherspoon pubs go, this is a good one. Not a place to stay long though because the lack of music doesn't exactly get you in the mood for a good night out.

Summary: ok for your first drink then move on
