“ Address: Love Lane / Burnham on Sea / Somerset TA8 1EZ „
Me and my mate Liz (Lexicrazy on here) love to go and eat out as often as we can possibly afford. One of our favourite places to go eat is Catherines Inn, in Weston Super Mare, a local Hungry Horse pub in which we've never ever had a bad meal (please see review on here if interested).
So a while ago we popped to this pub knowing that it is a Hungry Horse and should be as good as Catherines!

Situated on the main road into Burnham this is large and nice looking pub. There is loads of free parking and plenty of outside space to sit on wooden benches, some with parasols and water is placed outside in bowls meaning the outside is dog friendly which is great for us as we had our shared poodle Daisy with us.
Inside the pub is rather large and all on one level. I have been inside and eaten in there before and its all dark wood, dark carpets and plenty of varoius tables sizes available. Highchairs are available and the pub is very child friendly. Inside of the oub there are grab machines for cuddly toys, a cash machine and a couple of fruit machines. Music plays low of which is pop and there are plenty of staff always on duty and very smart indeed.
The bar is very well stocked as you would expect it to be of course. Alcoholic beverages, pops and coffees are on offer as well as a large array of alcopops and even cocktails. A pint is about £3.00 as is a glass of wine, cola a couple of quid a glass and lattes are about £2.00 each too. I don't think the drink prices here are too high at all to be fair though this isn't an alcopop kind of place as a rule (but even shots are on offer here!) and they do have a couple of speciality beers on offer as well.
The food deals here are great and thats a major draw for the place and this is a very busy pub indeed.
The deals are at the moment as follows:
Mon - Fri
Burger, Chips & Pint £4.99
Mon - Tues
Kids Eat for £1
Curry & Pint £4.99
Free Starter or Dessert with any Big Plate Special
2 Fish & Chips for £8.49
2 Desserts for £5
Like I say I have eaten here a couple of times, till our last visit and we decided no more as we had tried to get a decent meal and failed flat.
They do a wide range of starters such as Soup of the Day with baguette and butter and Garlic Ciabatta which both cost only £1.99 each, light bites which are wraps and the likes priced at around £3.00 each (veggie options are available and plenty fo them), sharing platters, main meals, 'big plate meals', sides and desserts and kids meals are priced around the £3.00 a plate.
There are lot of different types of burgers and chips costing around £4 - £7 and curries (again veggie options are available) at £5.99 each. Prices start around £5.99 a plate and thats for gammon and trimmings or an all day breakfast get more price up to about 13.99 for chicken wings and ribs and the likes plus steaks which are referred to as as big plate meals which are incredibly popular here.
I usually have Italian Chicken Parmigiana which is £7.50 'A jumbo crispy chicken breast, topped with melted
cheese and Italian style tomato sauce which is served with corn on the cob, chips, coleslaw and BBQ sauce' or the Tex Mex Combo for £12.99 (My favourite) which is half lf rack of ribs, southern fried chicken and a bucket
of chicken wings. Served with chips, corn on the cob, onion rings, coleslaw, grilled tomato and BBQ sauce which always beats me as you get so much of it! However I have had cheeseburger and chips here and there was a hair in my burger, I complained and I was told that they meal had been replaced fully (no apology was given mind you) and it certainly wasn't all replaced as a half eaten chip I'd nibbled came back. The second time I had my usual and it was cold and the chicken wings were burnt. I had to keep asking for things such as butter which normally comes out with the corn on the cob and what have you and by the time everything did arrive on the table I wasn't in any mood for it! The next time I had a pie and mash and once again there was a hair in my food, this time Liz found one in hers! We didn't complain...we left an that was that, thats us done with this pub.
I haven't eaten a dessert here but they do have rather a few on offer around the £4.00 mark but after my experience with the mains I wont ever be trying them.
All In All:
Its ok to have a drink here providing you don't mind the place being packed out and kids running around. The wait for food is long though service for drinks isn't. The pub is nice enough inside with decent and clean toilets as well as a disabled toilet though how a disabled pub goer would manage in here is beyond me as the place gets so packed! Tables are left unkempt though inside and outside the pub and the young staff really couldn't care less about the state of the food and portions tend to come out smaller than I've ever seen in a Hungry Horse pub before.
This for me is one to avoid till they sort the food out!
Food served till 9pm.
