The Royal Oak is thought to be the third most popular pub name in Britain, after the Red Lion and the Crown. In fact there are well over 500 different pubs in Britain that bear the name, the Royal Oak. The Royal Oak which is the subject of this particular review is situated in the picturesque little village of Ulley, about ten miles to the east of Sheffield and five miles to the south of Rotherham in South Yorkshire. This pub dates from the late 1600's and is said to stand on the site of an old well.
