The Sandcastle Pub/Restaurant (Sunderland) Reviews

Newest Review: ... that she was on her own and did not want two meals (she eats like a budgy) and was told she still had to pay the same price, my mother who is recieving a pension was reluctant to pay such a high price for a sunday carvery but as there was a line of people waiting paid it to save embarrasment. This upset me when she told me this as it seems if your on your own your being punished by paying more, it is already difficul for pensioners and single people to go out alone without being charged double every couple! i rang the pub and spoke to a supervisor who said the prices came from head office but the fact my mum is a pensioner, she could have... more

My mother who is a pensioner visited the pub in febuary for sunday lunch, although we have in fact been there before there is now a BOGOF offer on, yes buy one sunday lunch and get another one free, which considering it costs £10.75 isnt stricktly true! You can juast about go to any pub in sunderland and get a carvery for half that. After having a meal at The Sandcastle two year ago, I recommended it to some friends and off we went on 13/03/20010. She struggled to cut ... Read the complete review

The Sandcastle pub/restaurant in Sunderland, is a place I have visited for a meal a few times. It is a large building right on the coast leading from Grangetown to Ryhope, and a great place for families to visit due to having both an indoor 'fun house' for children and outdoor play area. Inside the pub it is very spacious and divided into areas featuring wooden tables and chairs, leather sofa's and three large plasma TV's. Wooden beams and some stained glass windows also make for a cosy atmosphere. The Sandcastle is open daily from 11am - 11pm (10.30pm on Sundays) and the Fun House play area is open from 11am - 6.30pm (7pm on Fri & Sat). ... Read the complete review
