A good evening to be had

When looking for somewhere to eat in the evening on a Sunday in Ludlow, we decided to have something in the pub right next to our hotel, the weirdly titled 'Squirrel'. The Squirrel is run by the Pedigree pub chain and the menu features a lot of 'Pedigree' beer battered this and Pedigree custard etc, great of you like Pedigree. The pub is nice looking and inviting from the inside and the outside. As it was a nice day the majority of patrons were sat outside the pub eating and drinking their Pedigree products. We ventured inside very hungry. We went to the bar and booked ourselves a table. My mum was attending to her fleet of dogs, so we ventured over to the quiz machine to tide over the time. We got ourselves a very expensive round of drinks from the bar and went to the machine. My Mum's bottle of Beck's beer was a staggering £3.50, very expensive for a drink like that - also seeing as it was only 275ml. I had a Coke, jbsabbath had a 'Sol' with lemon and my dad had a Kroenenberg. We sat down at our table and were seen by an attentive and humorous waitress. We perused the menu for a while and looked at quite a number of different options, there was the usual two for ten-pound meals as well as a selection of chicken from the open fire rotisserie. We decided upon a Sunday lunch which was clearly advertised as being all day, but when we asked had run out. We went for the chicken and my mum went for the plaice. The chicken was good, not too dry. It came with some fresh carrots and cabbage along with some new potatoes. The food was good, if a little plain, but I was pleased with what was there so eat it all up. The dish came to a charming £7.25. For pud jbsabbath and I went for apple pie with custard. This was excellent, if a little lacking in amount of custard. In all, the meal was good without being too frilly and fancy. The pub looked nice and was certainly busy while we were there. The price of the drinks was a little steep for a place of that calibre, so that could be a problem if you are only going there to drink. I enjoyed my meal at the Squirrel and would recommend it to anyone in the Ludlow area.
