Advantages: FANTASTIC FOOD & VERY FRIENDLY/COSY ATMOSPHERE, GREAT NIGHT OUT, GOOD WINE/ALE

Disadvantages: SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TO BE THE DRIVER, NOT REALLY SUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN BUT IT'S NICE TO FIND PLACES THAT ARE 'ADULT ONLY' VENUES, WE ENTERED THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR WHICH WAS ON FLAT GROUND BUT I DID NOTICE THE STEPS TO THE ENTRANCE FROM THE CAR PARK SEEMED STEEP AND NOT FOR THE ELDERLY OR FRAIL

My husband and I love to eat out and over the last few months we had been recommended to pay a visit to The Swan At Frodesley near Dorrington in Shropshire. We eventually got round to it last weekend and I'm annoyed with myself for not indulging sooner.
When we pulled alongside the quaint country 'pub' we thought it looked a bit run down and wondered if we'd made the right choice, but my doubts disappeared as soon as we walked in and were delighted to find a newly refurbished Meditterean style havern with nooks and crannies where couples can 'hide away', or the main room where larger parties could dine.
Anyway, to keep the story short, we received excellent service throughout the meal and the Landlord and Landlady were always on hand and attentive and by the time we left we felt like we had made new friends. The food was imaginative, cooked to perfection and just delicious - even down to the home made cranberry & walnut bread! and we came away feeling extremely guilty but very satisfied. In fact we have already booked a second visit and are taking some friends to show off our find..........
Don't judge a book by it's cover is my motto, this place looked like a run down pub, but in fact is a top class restaurant and we could have so easily driven past and missed out on something very special !

Hi Guys, Well I AM new to this because I didn't realise people would be making comments! It's great! Yes, I've also been to the Riverside which is good fun if your in a big crowd. Well in answer to Kjartan, I had Pan-fried nutted Goats cheese with asparagus to start and Hubby had smoked duck and parma ham salad. For main we both went for the Fillet of Beef glazed with Shropshire Blue Cheese - delicious.........I indulged in dessert - Raspberry & Mint Mille-Feulle, we even had Home made Shrewsbury biscuits with our coffee ! If anyone is ever in Shropshire - The Swan At Frodesley is definitely somewhere I'd recommend.
