This may not look all that from outside at the moment, but that is because they are currently doing up the outside. It looks very nice, and it will only improve and already great little pub. The food here is fantastic, Not the cheapest, but averaging on £10 per meal, not including a drink. They do fantastic portions of cheesy chips, for about £3. unfortunatley the turks has gone down hill since last nov when the then manager decided to go after putting alot of effort to getting it sorted out but down to the owners the infamous wande group its gone back to being rubbish it seems they havent got a clue on who to get into run it they took the sky away so the sporty ones left the food is no longer on so no foodies after alot of effort by the x manager to get it going and boy it was good its seems the turks is going to go very shortly as we,ve heard its up for sale sad but thats what happens when a two bit company get their habnds on a decent pub

When visiting the town of Reading, there are several local, friendly bars that I like to frequent. Public houses that cater for different styles and tastes but always offer a welcoming smile and a decent served pint. One of my favourites is The Turks, situated along the London Road, near Reading Hospital. The Turks, previously know as The Firkin has recently undergone several dramatic changes. The ownership has recently changed hands, and The Turks has been left with some fantastically vibrant personalities and a friendly atmosphere.
