Advantages: Great for dieters - they just don't bother serving you Disadvantages: .
Stopped in at the Bears Head at Brereton, holmes Chapel for a very well-earned lunch. Arriving at 1.20 on a Saturday, they were busy but not full. We ordered in the first five minutes and were told there would be 30 minute wait. 45 minutes later, having noticed that later arrivals around us were being served, we asked where the food was - "we've been busy, can you wait another 10 minutes". 10 minutes passed, and still no food, we asked again "your meals are just being plated up and the Manager will bring them and have a word with you". 10 minutes later, still no food, so we got up to leave - oh surprise! our meals miraculously arrived (carried by one of the waitresses) without explanation or apology. Sadly too late for us - having waited for over an hour for a plate of salad and fish&chips to arrive (nothing too strenuous for a chef), we had to leave. An assistant manager caught us on our way out - no apology and no offer of compensation, but a brief explanation that the manager wasn't available to speak to us (so why tell us earlier that s/he would personally bring us our meals?). Summary: Another example of poor service in english pub/restaurants |
