Pubs / Bars in Aberystwyth:
... family and I visited the Varsity Bar in Aberystwyth, owned by the Baracuda Group, recently. We arrived at midday, ordered our meals, and then waited 40 minutes... No meals arrived, so I caught the attention of the waitress and asked her whether or not our meals would eventually turn up. She asked me, directly, what I had ordered. I mentioned that I had ordered the Sausage Melt Baguette with cheese and she replied... Fat Cat Cafe Bar (Cardiff) ... Cats is a cafe by day, bar by night. It s on Greyfriars Road in Cardiff opposite the New Theatre and in a small line of bars. It s a far more classier affair than it s neighbours Varsity and LLoyds Bar and so makes a nice little pit stop on a night out or for a quick lunch during the day. By day, it is a nice laid back cafe bar with sofas and booths to sit in. The lunch menu is fairly reasonable in price and the food is good. It is quite basic as in sandwiches and wraps but they are very good quality. It s a nice place to go for a quiet drink or a lunch time catch up. By night, it becomes a lot more popular and there are usually bouncers on the door. After a certain... Read the full review: By night and by day by niknakb |

The Toucan (Cardiff) ... Toucan Club has had many homes in Cardiff. It was probably most famously on St. Mary s Street in the centre of town where it was a popular live music and rock club. It moved then to Splott which was a little far out of the way and it s popularity declined. It has now moved back to the centre of Cardiff and is on Womanby Street, a few doors down from the popular Clwb Ifor Bach. The Toucan s new home is a building which has also been home to many other clubs. It was formally a bar/club called Sugar and has been many things since but all have failed to last. The building itself is very tall and thin like a town house, so the rooms are very small. With 5 levels it is ver... Read the full review: Not like the good old days by niknakb |

Salt Bar and Pub (Aberystwyth) ... is a chain of 3 bar & restaurants in the coastal cities of Swansea, Cardiff and Aberystwyth. *Look* The theme of the SALT bar is blue and nautical. The restuarant is large and light with a high ceiling and upstairs dining area that opens up the restaurant. Immediately as you enter is the well lit bar, to the left are the stairs to the upstairs dining and toilets, and to the right are two tables surrounded by comfortable circular 360 degree brown sofas and several more bar-stooled tables. There are nice touches in the look of the restaurant, such as the use of drift wood in the lighting and decoration, and the intricate blue, fairytale style railings on the st...
