Advantages: Its cheap, its cheap, its cheap

Disadvantages: no music, rude staff

Wetherspoons is a national chain of pubs selling cheap food and drinks.

In Leeds my favourite one is the Cuthbert Broderick. Its relatively new, and has a great outside terrace which catches the sun in the afternoon. Its in Millenium square, and so is a good location for shoppers and drinkers in the evening.

For a single vodka with a mixer its about £1.99. Gin is even cheaper if you have it with lemonade. For ale lovers you can get pints of it for about £1.70. Wetherspoons is consistently cheap, and doesnt do things like special offers, because its already cheaper than most bars.

The only thing is that they never play any music in wetherspoons bars, this means that theres not much of an atmosphere. They do however in some of the bars show football matches and this can get a better atmosphere going.

At the Gaelhouse in Winchester, I used to go there all the time whilst at college, and sometimes go there when I go home. The pub has bouncers checking id on friday and saturday, and in the week the bar staff check id everytime you go up to the bar, even if you have been served already. Its a bit annoying, as they are quite rude about it. The staff in that branch arent the friendliest bunch, but if you stand at the far end of the bar thats not nearest the door, you get served pretty quickly even if the queue is 3 people deep at the other end.

Once I got some vouchers through the door and also in the Cuthbert Broderick. They gave you even more money off food and drink. A group of 4 of us only spent £15 between us on several drinks each!

The food is ok, its not amazing, its just microwaved pub food. They do curry night which is a bit better, and you get a drink included with your meal. Sometimes theres a bit of a wait, but your not paying more than £4 for a beer, burger and chips so no complaints!

The only thing I would say is that there arent many vegetarian dishes on the menu, as most of the food is traditional things like roast dinner, sheppards pie, steak sandwiches.

Give it a go for a night out for less cash. Theres no entry fee, the drinks are cheap and strong and just ignore the rude staff.

Summary: I will continue to go there
