Advantages: cheap drinks
Disadvantages: sometimes messy, not enough staff, food takes a while
Weatherspoons are great value for money - especially if you're up in London - as the drinks are cheaper than all the flash wine bars.
There are prices to pay though, for the cheap booze.
1. Many weatherspoons tend to be quite packed and you can hardly hear the person you are trying to talk to.
2. The food can be a long time coming and its not the most adventurous food in the world so you shouldn't have to wait ages for it.
3. The service can be really slow - with about 2 people behind the bar, and given the amount of people, this does not keep the queues down.
Some of the weatherspoons I have been in have also been quite messy - lots of empty bottles/glasses on tables. Full up ashtrays.
There are not many weatherspoons where you can actually go in, sit down, and have a quiet drink. They are the victims of their own success.
Having said that, if you want a few drinks on the cheap before you move onto somewhere more expensive then popping into the nearest JD will do you no harm!

- 07/04/04 I have to say that in my experience your experiences are the exception rather than the rule. I often use Wetherspoons pubs as well as their Lloyds No1 bars and have never suffered any of the problems you identify. These have been in most major cities as well as in many London outlets. |

- 06/04/04 Short and to the point this could have been a lot better. Weatherspoons is a place for cheep beer and that?s it no frills. The reason they can provide cheep beer is that they do not employ enough people to staff there establishments. So you get long queues and long delays if you are in there long enough say having a meal you will notice that all the staff take it in turns to serve, clean, collect. Wait and empty;
