Advantages: Good service, pleasant and helpful staff, extensive food menu, a lovely outside seating area

Disadvantages: Not really a family pub as it became very loud

When we spent a day in Stourport-On-Severn recently we decided to take the children on the fun fair, after spending a couple of hours racing from ride to ride we were all in need of a cold drink and a snack. My sister had spotted a Wetherspoons earlier so we hot footed it up the steep flight of steps to the outdoor seating and then I went inside to order our drinks and a plate of chips for the kids.

Service in this branch is both quicker and friendlier than other Wetherspoons I've visited across the UK. Staff were all nicely turned out and happy to help with any queries relating both to what the pub sells (food and drinks) and also knowledgeable about the local area, luckily actually as my sister was hunting for a bank which turned out to be located in an out-of-the-way side street - exactly where the barman said it would be!

There is an excellent selection of drinks at the bar including beer, real ales and a nicely presented wine list. Prices were extremely reasonable too, but then Wetherspoons are known for their low prices and drinks promotions so this was to be expected. The food menu is extensive and my mouth was watering as I watched other visitors tuck into delicious looking meals, we'd already eaten but I found myself wishing I had waited and had my dinner in here!

When they arrived the childrens' chips were wonderful, which reinforced my opinion of the days earlier disappointing dinner. They were so good in fact that my sister and I decided to order ourselves a plate while we were waiting for them to finish the large portion they had been served. They were delicious and if Wetherspoons can get chips so right then surely the rest of their menu must be excellent.

The atmosphere inside Wetherspoons was quite rowdy and crowded, nothing bad hearted just very loud. We were sitting outside to watch the funfair closing up so didn't really catch a lot of the noise as it was mainly families seated on the raised patio area, but the couple of times I went inside or to the bar I felt very closed in as it was absolutely packed with people sitting and standing everywhere.

The toilets in here are worth a mention, the ladies were absolutely spotless with plenty of room both inside the cubicles and also around the sink area. Also I noticed that walking past the gents there wasn't a sudden rush of bad air, which to a woman always indicates that the toilets are kept clean as there is nothing like the foul smell of walking past a poorly maintained men's toilet!

Summary: A very nice Wetherspoons branch which is worth visiting if only for the chips!
