When I left my home town in Coventry a year and a half ago as far as I was aware Yates had gone into receivership or whatever its called. It had closed down although it was a really busy venue in the town centre and always appeared busy, particularly in the daytimes serving food and Fri/Sat nights with young people getting sozzled on their drink offers! I had no time to miss the place though as I moved here to Weston Super Mare anyway but was surprised to see a Yates in my new town centre, thriving!
Like all pubs in Weston though this does a good business because we are seaside town, particulary in season of course. Not only cos it does run so many food and drink promotions and is a chain of pubs that most of us is familiar with this is close to the seafront, parking areas, buses and there is a taxi rank near by. Not on the beach road though it is near lots of other popular pubs such as Dragon Kiss (which is also a Chinese restaurant in the day time), Eternity's, Elements an a few others. Me and Friends regularly drink up Regent Street where this pub is and more often than not on a night out we start off here!

Ok so if you've ever been in a Yates this is a typical venue. Walk in through large doors to a dark pub with dark red carpets, dark furniture and large bar area and large tv screens dotted throughout the place. Its a clean place, the staff are smart in there black uniforms and theres usually plenty of them dotted about too meaning no huge queues at the bar usually. The bar is as you'd expect a Yates Bar to be, well stocked with all the usual suspects there including hot and cold, none alcoholic drinks. A bottle of their cheapest wine starts at £5.45, a bottle of beer at £2.30 a bottle, a coke at about a couple of quid a glass and vodka and coke around the £3.50 mark and of course there are promotions usually on as well as cocktails starting at about £6.00 each.
Till 9pm children are allowed in on any night of week and highchairs and baby changing facilities are available. This is when food is served to and there is a large choice of starters, main courses, snacks and desserts to choose from. Again there are offers on in this area once again and food includes things like burgers and chips and steak and chips, fish and chips...just usual sort of pub grub that is cheap and cheerful really. Personally yet I haven't eaten here so I can't comment about it really but I have seen the food and the menu and it looks pleasant enough to me and of large portions with a childrens menu also available.
I come here for drinking and on a Monday, Friday and Saturday night there is a dj who plays the latest tunes always on. Its always pretty loud and attracts a young crowd opposed to the daytimes which is more older and family orientated and on a Thursday night its karaoke night and of course all big sports events are always shown here.
This has disabled access and a disabled toilet available as well as well kept and clean male and female toilets and a garden out the back too which I have never been in to be honest and prefer to smoke out the front cos I'm a nsey parker
Bouncers are always on the doors at the weekend and are friendly and approachable and never have I seen any problems within this bar at all.
For a cheap and cheerful drink and a pub with a bit of life in it this isn't a bad place to start a night out at all and it is great deal cheaper in here to drink than alot of other places in our town. Its a bit dull in decor for my liking and needs a bit of brightening up but all in all its a good enough pub with no real dress code!
