My local Yates is in Chelmsford and i really can't say a good word about the place. Yes drinks are cheap - for example you can get a bottle of wine for only £4.99 and on some nights of the week they do drinks for just one pound - which i personally think is just irresponsible - and they wonder why they constantly have fights in there. I haven't eaten in Yates for years as the food was just terrible although once again cheap but for the same price you can get much better quality food elsewhere. They used to have a good karaoke night on Sunday which was something a little different and great fun for a chilled Sunday evening but they stopped this a while ago and i haven't had any reason or desire to go back since. I think i once walked in and walked straight out again. It's always dirty and the tables are rarely cleaned with glasses left for ages. Luckily thanks to the smoking ban full ashtrays aren't left on the tables festering. I wouldn't ever recommend this place to anyone i know! There are regularly fights and trouble breaking out at this bar and i wouldn't wish that anyone i knew was part of it!
