      Five out of five stars

Both my husband and I spent a lot of time deciding on which pram/travel system that we wanted to invest in because let's face it buying a pram is a huge expense. And in the end we opted for the Bugaboo Cameleon3, however, what we never considered was our little daughter wouldn't like her lovingly picked pram. In fact she hates the pram element of the Bugaboo and sadly won't go anywhere in it without crying, but luckily Bugaboo have made the Bugaboo Cameleon base suitable to use with a car seat - which thankfully she adores sitting in.

The adapters are extremely easy to use, you just click them into place - they even have an R and L label so you can't confuse which side is which, but really after you have used them a couple of times you can see by sight which goes where. It does take only seconds to clip the adapters onto the Bugaboo base and when the adapters are in place then you simply bring the car seat over and place it on top giving it a good push down and then you are ready to go about your business. To remove the adapters from the frame (because you can't fold the pram away with them on) is just as easy as attaching them, you just press the white side of the adapter and off it pops. Simples.

So far we have been using these car seat adapters on a very regular basis and they work perfectly, in fact had we not had this option we might have had to try and invest in a different pram until our Bugaboo was ready to be converted into a buggy. I couldn't recommend them more, even if it's only for a few trips to the shops when you don't want to cart along both the car seat and pram.

The Bugaboo car seat adaptors can be found in most stores that sell Bugaboo products for around £30 and will fit either the Maxi-Cosi pebble (which we have and it fits perfectly) or the Cabriofix.

For us the Bugaboo Cameleon car seat adapters have been an absolute life saver and if I could I would give them far more than five out of five stars. Yes they are an expensive extra but they have made my life substantially easier and full of far fewer tears.

      Car seat adapters

The Bugaboo Chamleon was the first pushchair I had when I had my little girl and I absolutely loved it. I now have a Quinny as well for my little boy but think I like the Bugaboo better. I think it is very cool and stylish, love the way it steers and just like the overall functionability of it. Like any pushchair I think when you first get it it is quite confusing as there are different ways to fold it and collapse the pushchair and lots of different buttons and levers etc which can leave a new mum a bit confused.

This is the situation I found myself in the first time I took my then two week old little girl into town in the car. My husband had just gone back to work and said to me before he left,"Now, do you want a quick lesson in how the car seat/pushchair works?" I of course said no, I know exactly what I am doing and the raging hormones in me nearly made me bark at him in not a nice way. There I was a couple of hours later, stuck in the car park with my car parking ticket running out, having no clue how to collapses this pushchair, asking random strangers if they knew how this blasted thing worked and getting more and more frustrated that my husband wouldn't answer his phone immediately!!

After that I figured out how these car seat adapters worked and once you know they are very easy to use!. The Bugaboo pushchair has a frame with wheels that you can either put a Bugaboo pushchair seat onto or a pram section or you can attach your car seat to it. In the early days when you baby is first born they travel in a small backward facing Maxi Cosi car seat. The nice thing about being able to put this on the Bugaboo wheel frame is that if your baby falls asleep in the car you can easily move them over to a pushchair to go shopping without having to transfer them to another seat and risk waking them up. It also works the other way round too, if they fall asleep whilst shopping you can then put them in the car without waking them up.

The car seat needs to have adapters added to the wheel frame in order for the car seat to snap securely into place. These adapters have L and R written on them so you know which side to put the adapter although once you know what you are doing its pretty obvious which one goes in which side. At the top of the adapter they are slightly angled because the car seat sits at an angle so baby can relax and be lying down a little bit. The right adapter also has a safety message written on it so that also helps knowing which one goes on which side. The message says, "This product is only to be used in combination with a bugaboo undercarriage and in combination with the Maxi Cosi Citi, Mico and Cabrio car seats."

The adapters slide onto the wheel frame on two hooks that stick up once you have put the wheels up. They will snap into place and you will hear the snap so you know they are in correctly. To release them you press inwards on the big white button on the adapter which depresses easily and then you just lift them off. Once the adapters are on you can put the car seat on them. This is a bit tricky and you need to make sure everything is lined up perfectly for it to fit on properly. Again, it will click into place and you will hear it once you know you have done it properly. To release the car seat from the adapters when you are ready to put the car seat back in the car you press on two grey buttons on the side of the car seat at the same time and lift the car seat off level in order to lift it off. THis can be quite heavy, especially when you have a baby in the car seat.

When you have the adapters set on the wheels the wheels will not collapse and so they are up and in place and safe for you to put your bags on and things like that. A clever little tip I have learned over the years, always keep the adapters in the back of your car so you have them ready to use whenever you are out and about. THis way you will never forget them. If I remember correctly the adapters came with our pushchair although we might have had to pay extra to include them in the package. If you lose them or they are damaged in any way they will probably cost you in the £25 but they are very handy and worth purchasing.
