Protect baby's skin from harmful rays
Member Name: i_am_joy
Advantages: Looks great, covers a wide area and enough to cover your baby's delicate skin
Disadvantages: Rather expensive
When my daughter bought her Bugaboo Gecko Stroller she was given a bundle of accessories which included this parasol, designed specifically for the Bugaboo Bee Stroller but actually universally fits all other Bugaboo buggies.
This one is a beautiful crimson colour which matches the body of the pram perfectly, she also bought a yellow one which contrasts with the red pram wonderfully and looked lovely and sunny last summer. When I inherited her Bugaboo (after very little use) for when my 19 month old granddaughters visits I was pleased to receive the parasols because they are so bold and attractive.
The parasol is attached to the chassis of the stroller easily using a simple clamp which securely moulds itself to the metal pole, it's stable once attached and there is no excess movement from any part of the parasol. The stem is long enough that the parasol is completely out of my granddaughters reach
The fabric part of the parasol is solid which provides better protection from the sun than the lacy parasols you can buy, it opens into more of an umbrella shape than a typical rounded parasol which again provides a wide area of shade when you're out with baby in the sun. The mechanism to open and fold the parasol is easy and smooth to operate and I like how solidly it locks into position as there is never any fear of the parasol collapsing over my granddaughter.
There are three points where you can adjust the angle of the parasol from and each point has a wide turn so I can always ensure my granddaughter is completely shielded from the sun. At the moment we have the bright winter sun which my granddaughter hates in her eyes so I use the parasol even in this colder weather but just to stop the glare of the sun, obviously if we get any summer this year she will be slathered in sun cream and the parasol angled to shade her whole body.
I cannot fault the Bugaboo Parasol at all; it does its job extremely well, looks fantastic and protects my granddaughters sensitive young skin. You can buy it in a range of colours to match the Bugaboo Strollers with every colour being vibrant and rich, I have a nephew who is a punk and when his baby son was born last month I bought him the black parasol from the range and he loved it because he couldn't find a parasol to fit his rather gothic image!
As I said, my red parasol came free with the stroller but I purchased the black one from Amazon for £25. Do have a look on Ebay though where used ones can be picked up much cheaper, and honestly these parasols are so hard wearing that a second hand one would probably not look out of place on your beautiful stroller unless it's obviously grubby or damaged.
Summary: A gorgeous parasol which matches my Bugaboo stroller perfectly.
