      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Very easy to fit, adjust and remove but only available in black.

Our main pushchair when Lauren was born was the Graco Mirage Travel System, as she was born at Christmas, it never occurred to us at the time that we would need a parasol as the pushchair had a hood, but as soon as the warm weather arrived, it became obvious we did as the hood provided very little protection.

We purchased a Graco Parasol from Toys R Us at the time for just under £10, there was no specific reason for this as luckily, the Graco Travel System we had did not have a funny shaped frame however I found the price quite reasonable (in line with most other universal parasols).

The only downside for me is that the parasol was only available in black, having a little girl, I really wanted a pink one but at the time we purchased, I needed one immediately and this was the only parasol available. The parasol is quite simple in design, the bracket and clip are both black, followed by a stainless steel effect arm and then the fabric parasol.

Fitting was really easy, place the bracket onto the frame of the pushchair (I choose just about the snack tray, it has a clamp lock on to once in the desired place, screw the claim closed (ensuring this is a tight as possible). Next you just slot the parasol into the hole, when it is inserted correctly; it will make a click noise. To remove, depress the two buttons on the base and pull. What I liked about this parasol was that the bracket could be left in place - with our unpredictable weather, some days we needed the parasol and the next the rain cover, I found it a little difficult to put the rain cover on while the parasol was in place but this meant that I could quickly unclip and remove the parasol when I needed to.

Both the base and the head of the parasol are flexible, which I really like as it meant that I could adjust the parasol it to whatever position you require to ensure that my daughter was completely covered and protected.

The parasol itself is much like an umbrella (except it is not waterproof), you put it up and take it down in the same way, it also has a handy little tie around it so it looks neat and does not get in your way when you are not using (except when we needed to put the rain cover on!)

The parasol is also available from baby specialists such as Kiddicare and Mothercare but also available from Amazon, the price can vary from between £9.99 to £14.99.

I would but this again, we used for a good year and would have used for longer if we had not have changed our pushchair, during that time I did not experience any problems and it did what it should have done. The shade itself did not suffer any discolouration either and still looked brilliantly black after a year.

Although the parasol is not advertised as universal, the clamp bracket was a cylinder shape therefore I believe it would have fitted onto most cylinder shaped frames, It would not however fit on the Quinny or the Petite Star Zia we has at the frames were more a square shape.

Overall I would recommend this parasol, such a small price to pay to protect your child - I hate it when I see babies being pushed around in the hot sun with no protection! However because of the limited colour choice, I would give 4 out of 5 stars.

      Thanks for reading.
