Maxi Cosi Rain Cover
Advantages: Very good quality, easy to use
When both H&M were babies we had a maxi cosi car seat and it didn't come with a rain cover. I remember on about Hope's 10th day we were going to venture out but then realised that we had no rain cover for the car seat. We hadn't even considered buying one, before Hope arrived we had so many other things to think about!
My husband ended up ordering one from Ebay and I think it was about £11, it couldn't come soon enough! I am actually surprised the seat didn't come with one considering it cost us over £100.
Anyway the rain cover is really easy to use. It came in quite a flat packet and once you unfold it you can see how to put it on the seat. It's made from quite a tough plastic which is see-through and pretty sturdy so you know your little one will be protected. It fits on as a tight, snug fit around the seat, you have to have the handle up or else it will just fall off.
I found it very easy to put on. It only took one attempt and it was on and I never struggled with it which is important as if it suddenly rains you need to be able to put this on your car seat as quickly as possible and this definitely enables you to do that. It doesn't hook onto anything or fasten on it's just the tightness of the fit that makes it stay in place.
You have to make sure you get it the right way round and you can easily see how to do this by looking at where the little window is. There is a small window about 3cm x 8cm which has a flap protecting it and this is at the front so that you can get to your baby if you need to. This gap is big enough for you to put your hand through. I'd use this to move Hope's hair from her eyes or to pass her a toy, you may use it to pop a dummy back in and so forth. Without this little window it would be very difficult to access your baby without having to take the whole thing off.
To take it off you just unhook it. I always made sure i went from the front to the back so that the water gathered on it wouldn't land on Hope if I nudged it a little. A quick shake and then I'd roll it up and put it underneath the pushchair until I needed it again.
It was always very easy to use and it remained in good condition so we were able to use it the second time around when M was born. It is a very practical product and the quality of it is great. We always kept it open and by a radiator if it was wet so that it would dry out and not go mouldy and I think that helped it to remain in such good condition.
In my opinion the seat should come with this really considering how expensive it is and it is an essential item in this country!
I highly recommend, it's easy to use and protects your baby from the rain very, very well.
Summary: great quality
