Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 4-in-1 Jigsaw Puzzles (4 / 6 / 9 / 16 Pieces)
by emmad5689
I bought my youngest daughter a new pull out jigsaw of the alphabet a couple of months ago and when we opened it the wood was split and it was totally unsafe for her, she was upset that she couldn't play with the jigsaw so we ended up ordered her these ones from Amazon to make up for it.
The jigsaws costs me £5.99 with free ... delivery and this seems to be about the right price as I have also bought her some of them with more pieces to put away and they cost in the same region of price.
The jigsaws are made by Jumo and they come in a strong cardboard box which is great as it is strong enough for being battered about by my heavy handed children. The box shows all 4 of the jigsaws on the front of it evenly sized and then has the name of the company and the information that the jigsaws are for ages 3 and up. I don't actually agree with the age range as my daughter is 2 and a half and she can manage to do 2 of the jigsaws herself.
The jigsaws come in 4, 6, 9 and 12 pieces which I really like as it means once your child can complete one they can move up a difficulty level meaning they get more from the jigsaw set. The 4 piece jigsaw is of Mickey Mouse abseiling down a rock face, the 6 piece jigsaw is of Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck in what looks like a handbag shop, the 9 piece jigsaw is of Donald Duck and Goofy sailing in a boat with Minnie Mouse above them in a hot air balloon and Minnie and Pluto flying an aeroplane. Finally the 12 piece jigsaw is of all the gang having a picnic, I like the way the jigsaws are all actually the same size so the more pieces the jigsaw has the smaller the pieces are.
The jigsaws are more detailed as you move up the pieces which is another way in which the ones with less pieces are easier. The pictures are all in really bright colours just like the characters are on the television programme and the pieces are all well cut and great quality.
Emily was thrilled when she saw the jigsaws and she got rather annoyed that she couldn't get the cellophane wrapping off them, once I opened them for her and removed the lid of the box as it was rather stiff to begin with she dived straight into them. To begin with Emily did try and put all the jigsaw pieces together regardless of the size of them but once I showed her them separately she was able to do the 4 and 6 piece jigsaws with no help and then the 9 and 12 piece jigsaws with help. Emily has played with these jigsaws loads of times and we have the next set ready for her once she can do the 12 piece ones to keep her developing her skills.
These jigsaws were a great price and we have already had our money's worth for the amount they have been played with, my eldest daughter seems to even enjoy playing with them despite them being far too easy for her, 5 stars from us. Read the complete review |

Winnie the Pooh Jigsaw Puzzle - 3 in a Box
by emmad5689
I bought these jigsaws for my eldest daughter the Christmas before last but she never bothered with them until recently after she had done her Disney Princess jigsaw and got the jigsaw bug again. I bought these from one of the bargain type stores and only paid a couple of pound for them, I have always liked Winnie the Pooh which was what ... attracted me to the jigsaws in the first place.
The jigsaws come in a strong cardboard box which I always find with the Ravensburger jigsaws which of course means that you don't end up with a battered box and jigsaw pieces missing. On the box you have a picture of the 3 different jigsaws inside and then the fact that these are meant for children aged 5 and up and there are 3 x 49 piece jigsaws inside.
One jigsaw is a picture of the main 4 character Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger all cuddled up together, the second jigsaw is of Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet trying to catch flies with a net but Piglet has ended up with a honeypot on his head. The last picture is of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit and Piglet having a picnic. I think that 2 of the pictures on the box are too small really and should be pictured a bit bigger on the back to allow your child to work out how to put the jigsaw together.
The pieces inside the box are of really great quality and they fit together perfectly so you are never unsure whether you have made the match of not. The pictures are not as bright as the usual Winnie the Pooh and friends colours but are a little muted instead which I actually quite like.
Sophie was eager to do the jigsaws after we had been playing with her Disney Princess jigsaw but I think she expected as many pieces as that one as she kept telling me we wouldn't have enough pieces when we got them out. The back of the pieces are marked so you can tell the 3 different jigsaws apart easily, you have a plain one, a dotty one and a stripy one, we have actually put them in 3 different bags so we don't have to sort through them every time.
Sophie loves these jigsaws and 2 of them she can do herself with no problem but 1 of them she struggles a little bit with but she is getting there. I think the age of 5 and up is correct on this one as they are still a bit of a challenge for Sophie who is nearly 6 but she can do the majority of them on her own and she is always really proud when she shouts me to show me a finished one. Jumbo Portapuzzle Deluxe 1000
by azana
Two Christmases ago when we started enjoying doing larger puzzles as a family, we bought this puzzle holder, to try and get past the issue of having to have a work in progress out on the table. For this it has proved excellent, and I am so glad we bought it as it gets a lot of use and is ideal for storing incomplete puzzles and for using ... to put jigsaws together. It is big enough for larger 1000 puzzles but handy for smaller ones too.
What you get here is pretty much as per the photo above, the puzzle holder is like a very thin briefcase with a zip all around three sides, with a leatherette finish. It's pretty large (82x63x4), but this is not really an issue as you can store it on its side without the pieces of the puzzle moving, or under a bed or sofa. It will hold a puzzle of 68x48 cm. The surface for puzzling inside is generous, as well as the two sides of the case when you open it there are also two boards that are half the size of the case each, these can be used for sorting pieces, all the innards are all are of the same microfibre non slip finish, a good thing as the pieces of any puzzle don't slide around. You can either use this item fully open on a floor or table or folded back on itself on your lap; we tend to do the former. There is a very strong plastic carrying handle.
When in use and not storing a puzzle, we find the whole family of four can work on a puzzle together with this item, it encourages you to do larger puzzles as you don't have to do them all at once, you must make sure you close and open the case on the same side, the jumbo red logo is only on one side of the case, so it's relatively easy to do this. To ensure the puzzle stays intact you must store both boards in the case, if you do this everything stays put really well whether you store horizontally or vertically.
This case is well made for the price, the zip is chunky and solid and the leatherette finish is not cheap looking. It is wearing very well despite lots of use. We picked up our case for a reasonable £20 at Hobbycraft where it seems to be on offer from time to time. We haven't found a puzzle too big for this yet, and there is nothing to fault it for what it is, it does what it was designed to well. This isn't, truth be told, the most exciting of items, but if you enjoy puzzling its well worth buying and in this house it's an essential! Read the complete review |
