It seems a long time ago now, but my oldest son received this First Lift Out Puzzle set as a gift from his Grandma on his first birthday. Over six years later, this puzzle looks as good as new and is enjoying a new lease of life with my youngest as this seems to be his favourite toy currently. The 'puzzle' is pretty basic but entirely suited to the target age group of 1-3 year olds. There are 12 separate pieces in the puzzle which all slot into their individual places, with the help of a single yellow peg in the middle. I have owned this puzzle since my first daughter was about twelve months old, and it has had SO much use from her, and my youngest. This puzzle costs about £7.00 from ELC, although is often on offer (as it is currently for £5.60), so it is a bargain buy as it gets your little ones through several stages of their development. For my very young baby, the wooden texture and small handles, have been a good toy to chew on when I am playing it with my older daughter. This might sound bizarre, but at least she has been able to join in safely for once! Then, from about one year old, it has been a great prop for the development of finer skills. ... The Early learning centre make my first lift out puzzle, at least that's what they call it. I have one at work that I often put out for the children to do. This puzzle is suitable for a child aged over 12 months old would say it would be fine for a 2 year old a 3 year old might want something slightly more challenging. I work in a special needs school and we use it with our, 5 year olds. This is a rectangular wooden tray peg puzzle. There are 12 pieces each will fit into its own shaped hole.
