      A fun colourful puzzle

Im a bit of a loser when it comes to puzzles. I can easily sit for hours working on a jigsaw without a care in the world. Every Christmas or birthday I get given at least one puzzle. A couple of birthdays ago I received the Gibsons I Love Great Britain Jigsaw. I already owned a few Gibsons puzzles and knew they were a good quality.

For me it was at the perfect size. With 1000 pieces and a finish size of 485mm x 680mm I found the puzzle a challenge yet not too difficult that I got frustrated or put it away before completion.

The puzzle pieces are shiny and made of a very solid cardboard (2mm thick). The puzzle had bright clear colours making it easy to focus on different sections of the jigsaw. The artist, Mike Jupp (who has a range of puzzles), creates a busy picture full of all kinds of British greats. These include balloon faces of Shakespeare, Henry VIII, Churchill and the Beatles. These faces are set with a background of traditional British buildings, markets, shields and aircrafts. I love the picture. It sums up fantastic aspects of Britain in a fun cartoon way,

I really enjoyed this jigsaw and would recommend it to any jigsaw fan. Every now and then I go back and redo the puzzle and still get immense pleasure. It is fun and compelling. I saw the price of this for £12 which in my opinion is a bargain for hours of fun.

Good fun puzzle for all the family

In the winter, I love sitting in front of the fire with my mum, a glass of wine and a good jigsaw puzzle! She has some that I have been doing for so many years I can do them without looking at the box, and know where most of the pieces go as soon as I pick them up. This year at Christmas she brought us a nice shiny new one to do.

I hadn't heard of the Gibsons puzzles by the artist Mike Jupp before but there seems to be quite a good range. Mum brought us the I Love Great Britain 1000 piece one to do. The finished puzzle size is 485 x 680mm (19" x 27").

The puzzle pieces are good quality - well cut out, thick and sturdy (2mm thick recycled board). They fit together easily and hold their shape. The puzzle itself has nice bright colours. It is fairly easy to do because all parts of it are so different, with pink, green and yellow houses, brightly coloured market stalls, big red buses and shields around the outside. The best part is the famous faces spread throughout the puzzle. They are people shaped floating balloons, including Queen Elizabeth I & II, Henry VIII, William Shakespeare, Nelson, Churchill (complete with cigar), The Beatles and Richard Branson - quite an assortment from history. For any children doing the puzzle this could be a bit of a learning exercise - getting them to recognise the well known faces and learning a bit about them whilst you do the puzzle.

I have really enjoyed doing the puzzle (have done it 3 times since Christmas now). I think this is due to the bright colours and the fact that it is so well made that you are not struggling to fit pieces together. The only downside is that it is so easy that I can do it in a few hours. Having looked up the puzzle to find the cost and seen the range, I will definitely be purchasing some more of them so I don't have to do the same one all the time!

Available on Amazon for £10.69 with free postage. Others in the range include I love Christmas, The Great British Seaside and I Love London.

      Thanks for reading
      Rachel
