What makes wasgij unique is that the picture on the box is not what you are attempting to make when you pu the puzzle together. The picture on the box normally shows various people staring at something, and what is shown on the actual puzzle, is what they are looking at. Its a bit tricky to get your head around, but you get the hand of it. This is definitely a difficult jigsaw to do, so I would say its only for those people who are a) keen jigsaw-ers, b) are good at jigsaws and c) have a lot of patience. They are hard to do - i'm not going to lie. I normally rely a lot on the picture on the box, and obviously this was not possible. They do provide you some "hints" on the box, but they are more hinderance than help. It took me a few weeks, and help form various family members, but eventually I got it done. And I have to say it was a bit of a high, and now I can't stop doing them!!
This is another brilliant jigsaw from the wasgij (jigsaw backwards, get it lol) range. As always with the wasgij range what you see on the box is not the picture you will end up with. The picture on the box is a clue to whatyour final jigsaw will be.
This jigsaws story is..... '
Stop, hold fire! What a careless place to drop his lighted match. The vase is in danger, but surely the cannon ball won't damage anything else....or will it?'
Thats the story you then have to
' Look into the scene and imagine you are the horrified lady.' So you know to start with you are going to be doing the puzzle from the horrified ladies view point so you have to think what she can definately see for starters.
I always start doing jigsaws by seperating the pieces into the edge and then the middle and then completing the outside first. The jigsaw is great to do if you enjoy a challenge I do mine on a jigsaw roll mat so its easy to fold away as it is 1000 piece jigsaw and there is no way I am going to be completing it in one sitting the dimensions of the puzzle are
68cm x 49 cm / 26.7 in x 19.3 in so it is also quite big to have left out unless you have a specific table for jigsaws.
Each piece is quite small and does have alot of detail on so it can sometime tire your eyes out trying to find what goes where.
If you enjoy a jigsaw with a challenge and don't like to just copy the box then this is one for you. Mine cost £17.99 from WHSmith but if you look online you may be able to pick it up cheaper. Although some people think thats alot for a jigsaw they do keep you occupied for hours so I think its worth the money.
Jumbo Wasjig Antiques Hunt- Jigsaw puzzle.
When I was younger I used to really enjoy doing jigsaws, I could sit there for hours and do so much. But, when this version came out, it completely turned me off them. I like to have the actual picture in front of me to help me put together the pieces. This is supposed to be the number one range for adults in the UK but I could not actually complete this. I had this puzzle bought for me when I was a teenager and I could not do it and somebody bought me this edition and I could not do that either. It is probably because I am so reliant upon using the clue!
Wasjig stands for jigsaw but backwards and the jigsaw is a lot different to normal puzzles. This is because there clue is not on the packet, there is a picture as inspiration but you have to decide where all the pieces go with no real help which can be ever so difficult. I got half way through and I just could not stand anymore!
These are available to buy on Amazon and you can buy them in toy stores for around £9.99. There are different versions of this and different themes but this actually seemed easy before I started. I suppose you have to be reasonably advanced in jigsaws to be able to do this! It is not my hobby which is probably why I could not seem to do it!
Advantages of this are that it is a challenge and some people find this good fun and also this is not too expensive and it gets your brain going!
Disadvantages are that there is 1000 pieces and I find this almost impossible.
I would recommend this to the kinds of people that really enjoy these!
Imagine it. Its raining outside, you're cold and there's nothing for you to do. What better way of ridding a few hours then by completing a jigsaw puzzle. Just think about the great acomplishment you have achieved once it's finished.
Ok, so maybe it's not everybodies cup of tea but for me personally I am a big fan of the wasgij collection. Altogether I have 3 of them and it truely breaks me when after spending days fixing them together, I have to inevitably put it back into the box.
I have Happy Holidays, Antiques Hunt and a christmas one as well. Each I have been equally frustrated and enjoyed putting them together. One of the great things about Wasgij is that it's not your typical puzzle. Thats right-it's back to front! You have to imagine what the people on the box are looking at. This makes it a bit more challenging than other pictures although I've noticed recently that a few shops on my high street have done exactly the same thing.
These pictures are always amusing and comic like. From looking at the backside of Father Christmas to tables being overturned. The thing about these puzzles is that the colours are vibrant which makes things a bit easier when sorting through the different shades. If that's how you do them. Naturally the sensible idea is to sift through the numerous pieces and fixing together the flat edged parts. Then the rest is up to you!
Wasgij, varies in prices but from WHSmiths I've got them for around about the £10 mark.
Despite some peoples prejudice against, claiming they are boring or aren't worth the effort!, these are great fun to do and is also something more than one person can join in with. Although at times you have to be careful that you don't start arguing about the fact that you're certain that somebody has lost a piece. Which is most dis heartening!
Wasgij is the unique puzzle concept where the picture on the box is simply a clue to the puzzle inside. Wasgij is the number one range in adult puzzles in the UK. Stop, hold fire! The vase is in danger but surely the canon ball won't damage anything else& or will it?
