Advantages: Good tool

Disadvantages: none

This 5 senses jigsaw puzzle is £6.95 from http://www.justjigsaws.co.uk. This jigsaw is really an inset puzzle a peg puzzle. The pegs are a good size and make picking up the pieces easy I think this puzzle suitable for a 2 year old. Although I think this puzzle is really ideal for older children.

The pictures on the puzzle are of a nose (smell), tongue (taste), ear ( hearing ), Hand (touch) eye (sight) . The pictures are good and clear real easily recognisable.
The puzzle pieces are shaped, the shape of the sensory organ it pictures. . The puzzle pieces are a good size easy to pick up and position.
The puzzle I 300x 200mm , it s made of MDF 6 mm thick this does make it easier than a card puzzle .
This puzzle will let your child practice their fine motor control. It will help their skills in awareness of the spaces that match puzzle pieces.

This puzzle is a good teaching aid, will provoke conversation about the pictures. Parent or teacher can use this to use the correct names for these body parts and their function. A good puzzle for P.S.H.E learning about our body and senses. Underneath the puzzle pieces on the tray there are pictures a telephone where the ear fits a flower where the nose fits, a rainbow for the eye space, an apple for the mouth space and a rabbit for the space where the hand goes. These pictures will make your child think more ask you child about them and ask for other suggestions. What else can you see/ hear/ smell/ touch taste.

This puzzle would be ideal in a special; needs class with students who find the manipulation of small pieces difficult.
The children I know like this puzzle find it attractive to look at and happily make it.

I've used similar ones like these for musical instruments but find the pegs can slip out in use when kids grab at them. I've paid a similar price in the past and don't think they are worth the money due to the cheap pegs.
