Advantages: . Bright pictres , chidren like these puzzles
Disadvantages: none
Ravensburger make many, many puzzles adult and children's. At work I was supervising children doing the Bob the builder puzzles. Ravensburger produce a box that includes two bob puzzles. There are at least 2 different Ravensburger Knob the builder 2 piece puzzle boxes available that I know of one this one in a blue cardboard box and 2 puzzles in an orange cardboard box.
The boxes both contain 2 bob the builder puzzles in different scenes at his work yard. One puzzle in each box has 12 pieces, one 24.
These puzzles are suitable for a child aged 3 and over. I would think a little difficult for a 3 year old and easy peasy for a nearly 4 year old, dependant on their ability of course.
These puzzles are made of a fairly thick card. Each puzzle measures 26 x 18 cm. The pieces of the 12 piece puzzle larger than the 24 piece puzzle. The puzzle pieces interlock with a male and female system (can't think of a better way to describe the knobbly bit and the hole it goes into). The pieces fit together well and a child at the correct stage developmentally will soon pick up how to fit the pieces together easily.
The pictures are bright and colorful most under fives will recognize Bob and his crew and be able to piece the puzzle together by looking at the picture making sure lofty has both googly eyes and giving the vehicles the right wheels .
As well as the thinking skills the manipulative and coordination skills, the motor control that your child will be using to fit these puzzles together, your child will be able top talk about the puzzle and the characters I know several children that talk to themselves and the characters that they are fitting together. Your child will be practicing their language skills you can help them learn new words about size, colour learn concepts about under and over , bigger and smaller. Sit by your child while they are doing the puzzle ask them about the picture, praise your child for doing well and getting the pieces in the correct place .
Your child will also play for on their own doing a puzzle not needing adult supervision
You can buy these puzzles on line through Amazon for £3.89 or £4. 99 . I anticipate that you should be able to buy them in the high street too. I have discovered if you lose a piece from a ravensburger jigsaw go to http://www.ravensburger.com/united_kingdom/service /replacement_parts/index.html and they probably will be able to replace it.
Would I recommend these puzzles ? Yes my grandchildren have them and I also have them at the special needs school that I work at. These would make a great Christmas gift for a 3 or 4 year old
Summary: 2 Bob the builder puzzles
