Advantages: Three puzzles for the price of one

Disadvantages: Individual puzzles get mixed up into one giant mess

These puzzles sound like fabulous value for money and they are. In fact with a little more thought from the manufaturers they would be phenomenal but as it is you get three puzzles in plastic bags within a single box which are identifiable into distinct puzzles only by the markings on the rear of the pieces which are either noughts, crosses or blank. First time out of the box this really isn't an issue. Open the box, complete the chunky 49 piece puzzle and return to the plastic bag which unfortunately your little one ripped in its excitement to start the puzzle. No problem at thiis stage. On to the next one. Complete the robust brightly coloured picture and put the pieces in the box. Repeat with number three. Transport box to toy cupboard shaking as you go.

The next time you open the box you're greeted with 147 pieces of three jigsaws all mixed together and a child who simply wants to get on and play with the puzzle not sit around sorting the puzzles into individual jigsaws. Buy the time you've done this for them they've usually lost interest in completing the puzzle. Still it allows you to rebag them all separately in the hopes that you can prevent this happening again until your child puts them away and forget to seal the bags.

The puzzles themselves are great. They're brightly coloured, with easily recognisable characters and with the aid of the picture on the box most 3+ year olds will be able to do them unaided.

Summary: Great idea that would be better if the puzzles were individually boxed
