Advantages: nice size pieces - colourful pictures - good quality

Disadvantages: curved edges if I have to pick something

When my son turned three last year he was a huge Roary the Racing car fan. For his birthday we bought him a few bits that featured Roary and one of them was this Vivid Imaginations Roary the Racing car Junior Puzzles set.

The box contains two jigsaw puzzles both featuring pictures of Roary and other characters from the television programme. The puzzles are made up of either 12 or 24 pieces but both come out to about the same size when put together. One of the puzzles shows Big Chris and Roary in the garage and the other shows Big Chris watching Maxi and Roary racing.

The jigsaws are made of fairly stiff cardboard and are both a nice size for little hands to pick up and place. They are not marked in any way so you can only tell which is which by looking at the size of the pieces. The edges of the puzzles are slightly curved so they are not the standard rectangular shape of a puzzle. I have always taught my children to sort puzzles into edge and middle pieces before they start and this curved shape does make that a little bit confusing. The puzzles are aimed at children aged three years and over and I would say this is about right as a younger child may struggle with the coordination needed but it always depends on the ability of the child.

My son loves the jigsaws and we make them on a regular basis even now that we have had them for a year. I have three children and they all enjoy these jigsaw puzzles although my youngest at only 20 months enjoys breaking them up more than making them. We have had the puzzles a year and all the pieces are still in excellent condition apart from one that has some toddler teeth marks in it. None of the pieces have bent or been torn. We usually make puzzles on a carpeted floor and we have never had any problems with this puzzle breaking up because of the flooring.

I paid about £4 for the puzzles I bought from www.wilkinsonplus.com but they are also currently available from www.amazon.co.uk for £3.91.

I would recommend these puzzles for any little Roary fans as they are bright and colourful, easy to make and a real bargain to buy when you compare them to some other jigsaws around.

Summary: Hours of entertainment for a tiny price
