Head i110 Squash Racket
by GadgetJon
I had been to watch my dad play squash a few times when I was younger and finally decided to take the plunge into the fast moving sport, starting off with a £15 racquet bought from SportsDirect, which was fine for all of 2 weeks when it snapped at the neck from clipping the wall.
At that point I had decided that squash was the sport ... for me, so after doing a bit of research I found that Head's i110 racquets was one of the better on the market, coming in at just below £40 this was a bit of a risk as I may not even stick with the sport! However I am still playing now, and still using the same racquet, and this is why:
*****LOOKS*****
To get started the racquet is very nice to look at, with blue and yellow colouring it is very easy on the eye. The top of the racquet is slightly flattened off and apparently this is supposed to improve the power.
*****WEIGHT*****
Weighing about 360g when it has been strung, makes this a real feather weight of a racquet. It is really nice to hold as it barely feels like you are holding anything in your hand, making swings very fluent. But do not let the weight full you, this racquet packs one hell of a punch.
*****POWER*****
The standard strings that come with the racquet feel real nice and the ball just absolutely rockets off when you hit it, it has a huge sweet spot, so for those who are less skilled at the sport this truly is an excellent racquet. The frame is PowerFrame technology, which is supposed to provide more power to each shot you make, I am not sure if this is just a gimmick, but I can vouch that the racquet really does possess a lot of power.
*****FEEL*****
I have touched on this a bit already, but the racquet is really nice to hold, I have always been told that the racquet should "feel like an extension of your arm", and this racquet does exactly that. It gives you a lot of confidence as you move around the court.
*****PRICE*****
When this racquet was new it retailed for around £160, which is a lot of money, but a few taps on Amazon shows that you can pick this up today for £42 which is an absolute treat and well worth the investment.
*****MATERIAL*****
It is made of carbon layer, joined together with a special gel, making it extremely tough, and resistant to all the knocks that are usually thrown at it on a squash court.
*****SUMMARY*****
So to summarise then, this is an exceptional racquet that packs one hell of a punch but comes in at just under 360g. The racquet is made carbon giving it superior strength to some of its competitors. At £42 I do not think you can really go wrong, if you are serious about squash Read the complete review |
