Dunlop Pro Squash Balls
Advantages: Good Quality, Durable
Disadvantages: Not Cheap
If you have read many of my previous reviews you will know that I am a big sports fan. I play pretty much every sport going and really enjoy doing so. One of the sports I don't tend to play that is often is squash. It's probably the racquet sport that I least enjoy. However, quite a few of my friend enjoy squash, so every now and again I do give them a game. One thing that makes a big difference in squash is the ball you use. It's not just a case of turning up and using any old ball. There are different types of ball that play differently, some will bounce more than others and some will make for a faster game. The ball that I normally use when I do play squash is this one, the Dunlop Pro Squash Ball.
The one I have used is the double yellow dot ball, to be perfectly honest I'm not really sure how the dots work. I know there is a blue dot ball you can use as well and probably a few more. The colour of the dot supposedly tells you what kind of ball you are playing with. Anyway, the yellow dot balls that I use seem pretty good. I have played with another ball and so I do have something to compare the Dunlop Pro ball to. I would say the Dunlop ball is the best I've used.
When playing with the Dunlop ball I found that it did what it should. By that I mean it bounced consistently, it flew straight and true and there were never any surprising moments where the ball did something it should not have. Squash balls don't always tend to last that long, if you have played the sport you will know just how intense it can be and the balls really do take a beating. So given time, general wear and tear means that balls can split and wear out pretty fast. The Dunlop Pro ones seem very durable, although they certainly don't last forever, they seem to hold up pretty well even when playing a really intense game of squash. This obviously makes them a good value ball as you won't have to replace them very often.
The ball comes in black as you would expect and you can pick up a pack of three of these balls for around £7. That makes them quite expensive compared to some other squash balls on the market, but as I mentioned, they are very durable so even though you may pay a little more, you really do get your moneys worth with these squash balls.
Overall I would have to say that the Dunlop Pro Squash Ball really is an excellent little piece of sports kit. It does everything you would want a good quality ball to do. It's last a long time, feels like a really well made piece of equipment and is the kind of ball you would not be surprised to see the pros using. So if you do enjoy a good game of squash every now and again, get yourself a pack of the Dunlop Pro balls and I am sure you will be impressed with them, just as I have been.
Summary: An Excellent Ball
