I love playing tennis and badminton for fun (even though I'm not great at either!) and go to a tennis club at the gym every week. When a friend got me this set of aluminium tennis rackets with balls by Pro Baseline I was delighted! Argos have stopped selling these now but they can still be bought from Amazon for £19.99.
The two tennis rackets are designed to enable young players to learn tennis but don't let that put you off - they are a high enough standard for anyone who plays tennis regularly as a hobby. The rackets are made with lightweight aluminium frames making them easy to hold, lift and swing, however it does compromise a bit on their durability and they can feel a bit fragile at times, especially when playing with heavier weight balls. The handles are nice and long with a rubber coating to give a good grip and I've never had any problems with the racket slipping in my hand. The white plastic mesh also has a good spring and gives a strong hit.
As well as the two rackets you also get a set of two tennis balls and a carry bag to hold the rackets in. The carry case is great as it has room to fit the entire set in so you can just bundle everything together and head off to the park. It's made from black fabric with a strong handle that's comfortable to hold when carrying. The bag is narrow and doesn't weigh much so it's no hassle to carry around. The tennis balls are fairly standard although they did have a good bounce when we first got them.
The set is very durable given the price and my rackets have both lasted a year without any major signs of wear. There are a few scratches and chips in the paint on the plastic but apart from this they are perfectly functional still and the carry bag is as good as new.
Overall this a perfect set for anyone who plays tennis just for fun in the garden or a friendly match in the local park. They definitely aren't good enough standard for professionals but for me they are ideal so I'll give them a good 4 stars!
This set of 2 tennis rackets is ideal for young players learning the game. With light aluminium frames and a handy carry bag, this is everything you need to get started in tennis.

*For ages 3 years and over.
Set was bought from Argos in the sale for £3.99.
Original price £9.99
So, I used to play tennis at school and remember liking it and the other half and I wanted to start doing a new hobby/sport for new year so we looked through the Argos cat to get some ideas. Thats when we found this and I remembered how I used to love playing. So we discussed it and with it being in the sale decided to buy, after all its only a few quid and if we didnt like it we could keep it for the beach when we go away. So we bought it from Argos at £3.99 for 2 rackets, 2 balls and a carry case, what a bragin!!!
Using it- Well this is where the fun started.... I wont go into how competetive we are and I wont go into how bad we were! Afterall this is about the set!!! ha!! So, the rackets are lightweight and very easy to swing about, they are also very strong and durable, but we found the balls provided were too heavy for the rackets and didnt have much bounce in them at all. So we did end up buying new balls. The carry case is ideal as you can keep the whole set together, but the material is very thin and I wonder about the durabbility of it. In my opinion it probably wot last long, saying that we have had them now for 3 weeks and its ok so far.
I think this set is perfect for children or if you are starting to play tennis, however if you go any higher than a simplle muck about in the park or at the beach then I think you would need to go for a higher standard set. For the price it is a brilliant buy and although the balls arent great you are still getting a lot for your mmoey as the rackets are very strong and durable. Like I say about the carry bag, its fine and at the moment still works, but as it is thin Im nnot sure how much longer it will last, soo the durability there isnt great. The tennis balls we did use for others things (our dog!) but again for the price I dont mind. We got some great rackets and had some great fun! And we actually stuck to a new year resolution, we might not be like Andy Murray yet, but watch this space!!!
All in all 3/5 stars because the rackets are strong and durable and the price was amazing. Whether buying for kids or adults to learn or for fun this set is worth the money.
