This is a high quality product which will last you quite a few years without having to be upgraded constantly for you to be able to play a new game. You can pick this item up cheap at quite a few different stores. For anyone upgrading I would recommend checking that you get the right type for your machine and check to see were you can buy it cheapest as it can not work in some machines and it should come with warranty. I would also recommend buying this in a pack of two the same as it is said to work better if you use two of the same type. From personal experience I find that having 2gb of ram is enough to do anything a home owner would want. I would say that £60 for 2 1gbs would be a ok price for anyone who does not know how much to spend on this product. I would also advise a upgrading buyer to see if you can get a bigger sized product as you would possibly be better of for the future instead of having to upgrade again costing you more money. The installation of this product is very simple as you just have to insert it into the motherboard of your computer and that should be it.
This Crucial 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM was a recent purchase for me in my new computer set up. Predictably the features of the RAM are nothing to particularly marvel at, but this addition to my system did increase the reliability of my computer considerably.
The RAM is easy to install, you are just required to make sure you have a DDR2 capable motherboard; otherwise it is impossible to install the RAM on your system. This RAM can be used along side other RAM, preferably of equal size and specification in order to increase your memory without suffering from bottlenecking (the phenomenon of too much data being directed down one data path). If you do this you must take into account that if one ram has a lower clock-speed than the other (the number before the MHZ), both will synchronise at the slower speed, basically the slower RAM will slow down the faster stick.
You must make sure that this RAM is compatible with your Motherboard, do this using your manual or go onto the crucial website and input your make and model; the site will tell you which RAM is best suited to your Motherboard. You may then easily note down this specification and compare prices.
This RAM has been a god send for my multi-media applications such as media streaming of 1080p video and Photo editing. The RAM will reduce the risk of disk thrashing (the over use of the hard-drive for rapid swap virtual memory) and in turn speed up all processes. If you do not tend to open many applications at once of use only low memory apps such as a web-browser, then this RAM may not be required and you could stick with the RAM you already have. Similarly, this RAM may not be enough for video-editing power users.
