I bought some of this RAM for my i5 system, it was paired with an i5 750, asus P7P55D, and powered by the corsair TX 650. I have received excellent performance out of it. It runs very cool and looks great.
After owning it for around 6 months i did start to have some problems with blue screens and my computer not booting properly, and so i ran memtest 86+ to check if anything was up with the RAM. From reading other reviews of this product, it seems i had an extremely rare problem, and the support people at crucial could not have been better. I went on the online support chat to ask about sending back a matched pair of sticks, and they told me to send both back on recorded delivery. I sent it on a Monday and had new RAM on the Wednesday.
This RAM is extremely fast, running at 2000 MHz, you may need to go into the bios of your motherboard to make the memory run at this speed, as some default to slower speeds. I would advise getting crucial RAM as the customer service is exceptional, and the product itself performs very well. Remember this is a 2 part kit however, and is DDR3, and so is only suitable for DUAL channel DDR3.. so only on i5 builds and possibly some AMD.
The Ballistix line is specifically built for performance enthusiasts who want to push the performance envelope without worrying about data loss or corruption, mysterious intermittent errors and display problems, or worse - the dreaded BSOD! The Ballistix line of high-performance memory modules features advanced speed grades, low latencies, and integrated aluminum heat spreaders.
A Ballistix dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components that are attached to a black printed circuit board. The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.
