Disadvantages: None.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In modern day's computing technology, RAM is one of the key factors to consider, before we buy a PC system. RAM (Random Access Memory) is a electronic circuit with chip-sets, that allows the user to store data/information in the system and execute them later (if it has been saved properly). RAM allows the user to execute (or return) any stored data later in a continuous time, regardless of its size, location, type or format, hence the term RANDOM has been used in RAM terminology.

Kingston Technology is one of the world's largest private companies to produce computer memory products. It is a USA based company and to date it is the fastest growing company in the computer memory market. They specially manufacture different types of RAMs and some flash memory drives as well. They have strong distributor network in all over the world. Good quality products, after sales support and durability makes Kingston, the primary choice for consumers regarding computer memory requirements.

INTRODUCTION OF THE PRODUCT

ValueRam is one the prominent memory series introduced by Kingston to the consumers. The promotional theme of this series is superb performance within cheap price. This Kingston DDR2 valueram memory has 2 gigabyte of memory with super fast 800MHz of bus-speed. This RAM generally designed for desktop computers.

STANDARD FEATURES

1. Huge memory size of2GB( bigger memory size allows the user to experience faster performance and quicker return of data)
2. 240-pin Dual Inline Memory Module(DIMM has 64 bit data path, which allows the user to have fast data transfer in system)
3. Supports DDR2 technology,(DDR2 comes with higher bus speed and faster response)
4. It requires + 1.8V to operate.
5. Clock cycle time is 2.5ns(minute.)
6. The lead has gold plating with 8 different D-ram chips.

INSTRUCTION MANUAL, TECH SUPPORT & WARRANTY

It's easy to install a RAM in the motherboard. There is an instruction manual also supplied the manufacturer to facilitate and help the consumer to install the ram in system. But before buying a RAM, we have to consider about our motherboard adaptability. In general, mostly Intel motherboards (DG31 and higher model) support both DDR2 and DDR3 modules. Still, Kingston has an online tech support for the consumers. Usually KINGSTON ram's come with lifetime warranty, but there are some exceptions such as it is only 10 years warranty for Germany, Austria and France. There is a demo in Kingston's website where it explains how to install a RAM in system step by step.

PERSONAL OPINION

Last December, I bought my Desktop from DELL, and it came with 2 GB Kingston ram. So far I am satisfied with the performance of my system. Especially the massive 2GB allows the system to execute data promptly. I also can play some decent games and do some programming as well. It also helps to have good quality video playback and higher resolution in the system. I tend to clean my cache memory so frequently to have the required free memory space to perform some extra tasks simultaneously. The response time is very fast for this ram, and it tends to fluctuate between 2.5 ns to 6ns.

This RAM is also unbuffered and non-EEC. The term unbuffered means, this RAM directly operates with the chipset, and there is no involvement of third party operation. Buffered ram is obviously a better option as long as our motherboard supports it. Though it makes accurate and error-free responses, still it tends to slow down the system a bit.

ECC or Error Checking code is a special process includes in the RAM, which allows checking and correcting any errors in processing DATA before forwarding to the system. In normal household PC, we don't need ECC and buffered facility in our RAM, but for office works and server system, it is an essential feature to have. The basic difference between unbuffered and non -ECC and buffered and ECC RAM is, there is one extra DRAM chipset in case of buffered and ECC RAM (in total 9 chipset for buffered and ECC ram). This extra chipset helps to check and correct the errors in processed data before forwarding them to the main system.

So in my opinion, it is not an disadvantage having an unbuffered and non-ECC RAM in my system. Because, I prefer to have quicker and fast response in data processing. But it is obviously an important feature for office and server systems.

AVAILABILITY

We can get this RAM from Amazon just under £20. There are some other electronics shop where we can buy this RAM as well.

Thank you very much for reading.
