Not awful, it fills a gap

I love pastry and it's a real down fall with me! I'm unable to resist the stuff and there's nothing I like more than shopping with a fresh slice or pasty in my hand!

I spotted these the other day in Asda and priced at a mere £1.00 a box for two of them got them for me and my mate to share.

      The Packaging:

Light green box with a photograph of the cooked slices on the front of it. I am told that they are Asda Cheese & Onion Slices, that they are free from artificial colours, flavours or hydrogenated fat and that they are suitable for Vegetarians, the size is stated which is 326g (2x163g) and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. Other information given on the box includes ingredients and allergy advice, a full nutritional chart and cooking instructions are listed along with storage advice (these are freezable by the way) and contact details for Asda are stated. Nice enough and informative packaging this is!

      The Slices:

Well they look like pastry slices of course which is a promising start! lol. Frozen and as you purchase them, they are ob-longish in shape, reasonably thick with slash marks to the top of them and a light creamy colour. They take around 25-30 minutes to cook in the oven and in that time they go lovely and golden and slightly puffed up looking.

Great size due to the puffiness of the pastry, the cheddar and mozzarella was a light yellow in colour, looked sort of creamy and had melted very well and had a thick and gloopy consistency. I didnt see, feel or taste any onions though and I did actually look for them too! The pastry tasted nice enough though not overly buttery or anything, it was seasoned nicely though and was flaky as we are told on the box making a bit of mess as you eat it!

I liked the slice overall but they didn't delight me as such. Ok for a quick snack though and easy enough to heat through....these are! Generous on the cheese, though it was mild in taste though the lack of onion disappointed me and I got a bit bored fast. Not bad though!
