      Nice beans!

Me, well I've never been what you call a bean sort of fan, until recently. Spending a lot of time with a Vegetarian mate and eating unfamiliar foods to me, nowadays I rather enjoy the old beans and pulses!

These costing 44p for a 290g can seemed something we would enjoy whether served to accompany other foods or even bunged in some sort of cooked dish so we threw in the trolley a couple of cans to try!

      The Packaging:

Like I have previously said this is a 290g can. It has an orange label around it and on the front a photograph of the mixed bean salad adorns it and I'm also told that it is Asda Mixed Beans Salad 'In salted water, with sugar and vinegar' and that it constitutes as 1 of your 5 a day per 3 heaped teaspoons. Other information on the can stated includes ingredients and nutritional information being given, storage advice and heating instructions are also stated and contact details for Asda are listed. Nice enough informative can this is of course!

      The Beans:

Open up the can and heat the contents on the hob and in a saucepan for about 4-5 minutes or in the microwave for about 2 minutes in the watery liquid they come in then drain and serve them or add to a home cooked dish your preparing...anything you like basically!

What you get in here is plenty of sweetcorn kernels with a few red kidney beans, some blackeye beans and green cut slithers of beans, bertolli and haricot beans and chick peas and some small cubes of red pepper. All has of course been stored in in salted water with a little sugar and malt vinegar.

Taste-wise well if you like your veggies this is rather good. Course you can serve this hot or cold or anyway that you like! I found it all to cook and hold really well without turning into sludge and it looked appetising due to the colours it had going on within in.

All the vegetables were well cooked and seasoned and although they contain vinegar and sugar I couldn't really detect that but everything tasted as it should really and everything possessed flavour, which is the main thing lol!

      Verdict:

A great bean salad worth it's money and I will buy this time and time again in the future for sure. I like the way nothing within it was hard or overcooked and the flavours all blended very well together with nothing being overpowering within it! It looks good and tastes it and more than anything else it is good for you too! Another great product from Asda......this is!
