I am always shopping at Asda. They have so many foods to choose from and a really big selection on ready meals etc. I spotted this Classic Steak & Mash in their chilled section and thought it looked appealing. I quite like mashed potato and I love beef; the picture of the meal on the front of the box looked very tasty. I suppose the only thing which is a bit deceiving about this meal is that it is described as 'steak'. I have found that a lot of meals similar to this one are described in the same way. The meat isn't actually steak as I would think of Steak; I mean its not sirloin or rump steak! Asda describe the meal as 'Tender pieces of beef steak with carrots in a rich beef gravy, served with creamy mashed potato'. I would say that the beef is like a good quality braising steak ; so in that way, I suppose you could call it steak. There is certainly plenty of beef in the meal. It is mostly in largish chunks. Personally I prefer smaller cubes of meat. However, it does come out quite tender and the 'rich beef gravy' is really tasty and very meaty in flavour. There are nice carrots in the meal and the mashed potato is good. If you want a smaller meal; you could eat this just as it is. However, you may want to add another vegetable to the meal such as Green beans or peas. Personally, I would add Green beans (as the picture suggests on the box).

This is a decent meal with plenty of good quality beef in it and its very tasty too. Deserving of 4 Dooyoo stars from me.
