      Nice enough quality, cheap meal!

When it comes to food I usually like it prepared and fast and for me to simply be left to heat it up. Yep I'm a fast foodaholic really and that even applies to my kitchen lol

This I spotted in my local Asda store costing £1.05 a meal I simply fancied it as it sounded so nice really and a bit different from other microwave meals I usually go for.

      The Packaging:

The meal comes in a black plastic tray with plastic see-through film that covers that and then a purple coloured sleeve that slides on and off with ease from that. On the front of the sleeve we are told that it it Asda 'Chosen By You', Meal For 1, Creamy Chicken & Bacon Bake 'Succulent pieces of chicken breast in a rich and creamy leek and smoke flavour bacon sauce, topped with fried diced potatoes' and there is a photograph of the meal on there along with being told the weight of it which is 400g, we are also told that it is freezable and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there too. On the back of the sleeve other information listed includes ingredients and allergy advice, there is a full nutritional chart given as well as cooking instructions and contact details for Asda are also stated. Nice enough, informative packaging as usual from Asda thankfully!

      The Meal:

Well we are told to cook it in the oven or in the microwave. In the oven chilled it takes about 35 minutes in the microwave from chilled it takes around 6 minutes.

What you get is a rather large, interesting portion of a bake. The top part is full of golden, mini looking roast potatoes and then under that as promised you get a creamy bacon and chicken mix in a white sauce which is white and rather drippy and has a smoked fragrance and taste to it and is infused with pieces of light green ringlets of leek.

The potatoes are crispy and well seasoned and cooked. Ok they don't taste like home made ones but for ready prepared ones on a meal already made up I was more than happy with them. The sauce was plentiful with a taste of garlic and onions to it and the pieces pork were small and square and pink, rather salty and plentiful. I have to admit to not being able to find any diced chicken breast within the meal no matter how long I looked but then there was only 20% of that anyway.

Taste wise I though this was a nice hearty and filling meal of decent quality. The sauce as promised was creamy the bacon was there aplenty and the leek flavour wasn't too much and all in all I rather enjoyed this meal. Maybe not as good as a home made bake granted but certainly the next best thing it could just do with more chicken within it Asda!
