Advantages: Tasty, and reasonable price
Disadvantages: Not as loaded as the picture appears
We all get those lazy days where you just cant be bothered to slave for hours in front of the cooker, and this is when I normally dig in the deep freezer, and grab something quick and easy such as this Asda Deep Pan 10" Sweet BBQ Chicken Pizza.
It retails at Asda for £2.38, or if you are lucky and they have one of their specials, you can get two for £4.00, which is really great value.
The pizza is deep pan, loaded with chunky chicken pieces, sweet BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese, and red and yellow peppers. The base is thick, but not too "doughy" as it tend to be sometimes.
It bakes in the oven for about 12 minutes, and can serve 2people, but probably would need a little salad as well, especially if it is a main meal.
The ingredients are:
Wheat Flour, Water, Mozzarella Cheese (15%) (milk) [potato Starch], Barbecue Flavour Chicken (8%) [chicken Breast (78%) (brown Sugar, Vinegar, Tomato Paste, Onion, Olive Oil, Bbq Flavour [soya Sauce Powder, Colour (paprika Extract), Wheat)], Seasoning Sauce [vinegar, Soya Sauce Powder, Sugar, Salt, Chilli, Spices], Saly, Smoke Flavour, Modified Tapioca Starch, Tomato Flavour (milk) (lactose), Chilli Powder, Lactic Acid, Colour (paprika Extract), Stabiliser (xanthan Gum)], Peppers (8%), Tomato Puree (3%), Crushed Tomato (2%), Yeast, Vegetable Oil and Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Modified Maize Starch, Dextrose, Molasses, Sugar, Salt, Flavourings, Garlic Puree, Emulsifiers (soya Lecithin, Sodium Stearoyl-2 Lactylate, Mono and Diglycerides Of Fatty Acids), Herbs (basil, Oregano, parsley, Thyme), Spices (black Pepper, Coriander), Citric Acid, Chilli Powder, Flour Treatment Agent (ascrobic Acid).
It contains no artificial colours, which is good, but as would be expected it is not exactly good on the waistline, with 102kcal per 100g. Well, it IS pizza!
It tasted quite good, and I liked the sweetness of the BBQ sauce, with the hint of pepperyness due to the red and yellow peppers. It was however not as loaded as the picture on the box, which is a bit disappointing!
Overall, a good product, and a nice filler for those lazy nights, at a very reasonable price.
Summary: Good value, tasty, meal for a lazy night in.
