I would give this meal two and a half stars

This is the second meal that I have tried from Asda's Good For You range, which is supposed to be lower in fat and calories than standard ranges, and aims to provide you with more nutrients.

The meal is called 'Moroccan style lemon chicken' and is described as 'Tended chicken breast fillets in a fragrant sauce with lemon, honey and ginger, served with roasted vegetables and cous cous'. The vegetables include courgettes, red and yellow peppers, onions and chick peas.

The meal can be cooked from frozen or chilled. It takes just 8 minutes in the microwave from frozen which makes it very convenient.

The size of the meal is very good. It easily fills a large dinner plate and if you and your eating partner only like small portions you could probably split it between two and have some bread or salad on the side.

There was quite a lot of chicken and it was nice and soft rather than the horrible rubbery chicken you often find in ready meals. The vegetables had all cooked through nicely, though there were too many chick peas for my liking. The couscous was OK though I found the tomatoey sauce a bit bland and would have liked it to have a bit more taste. There wasn't anything wrong with the meal really but I found it a bit of a chore to get through it, probably due to the lack of taste and the fact that couscous is very filling.

The meal contains 434 calories, 5.2 grams of fat (of which only 0.8 grams are saturated) and 20.8 grams of sugar. There are no artificial colours or flavours, no preservatives and all the hydrogenated fat has been removed. Plus, the meal contains 37.3 per cent of your recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, which is important for maintaining the health of your skin, gums and blood vessels.

The meal also contains 2 of your 5 a day fruit and vegetable portions. Plus, as the pack points out, the chicken provides phosphorus, 'which is important for healthy bones and teeth'. In general then this is a good way to be healthy whilst putting in very little effort.

It costs £2.44 to buy this meal alone, but all the Good For You meals are on a '2 for £4' offer which makes them more reasonable. Personally I won't be buying this one again as I wasn't keen on the taste, but I will be checking out other meals in the range because they are quick, easy and healthy.
