      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      I bought one of these to have as an emergency meal. I don't usually have ready meals as I prefer good wholesome and cheap 'proper' food cooked from scratch. I've just sat and eaten it and it's all I expected. Bland with soggy pasta and prawns which were tough and rubbery. One of the nastiest meals I have ever had in all honesty.

      A tasty meal that cooks in minutes

      The other day I reviewed a microwave meal from Asda's italian range the Pepperoni Pasta bake, that I've been well impressed with. Thats not the only meal I've been happy with though. Theres a large rang of the Asda Italian dishes and I've been trying alot of them.

      The meals can be found in the fridges in Asda, all in the same deep green colour theme with a picture of the meal on the top of the packaging. One meal costs £1.90 but at the moment they are on an offer buy 3 for £4. One of my three I picked up last week was King Prawn Linguine. Coming in the same deep, black microwaveable tray sitting in the same green cardboard sleeve. Only difference being the picture of the meal on the front and the meal itself. The king prawn linguine is basically egg linguine and succulent king prawns in a rich and spicy tomato and chili sauce. The packaging informs us that the meal surves one and it has a medium heat. The meal contains No artificial colours, flavours or hydrogenated fat.

      The meal contains;
      418 calories
      8.0g sugar
      11.0g fat
      1.9g saturated fat
      2.9g salt

      And one of your five a day per pack.

      You can either cook it in the oven or in the microwave, I've only ever used the microwave for convenience and it still tasted delicious.

      The pasta, is very much like noodles, long and spaghetti like but a lot wider and offering alot more chew. It's a soft and tasty pasta which I havn't tried before but I really enjoyed. There was alot of it filling the tray and I found it very satisfying and filling. I was a little worried the tomato and chilli sauce would be too spicey but I was pleasantly surprised at how fruity and sweet it tasted with just a little tang that topped it off. It wasn't overly spicey and hot but not too weak either, it was a very flavoursome sauce and it coated every strand of pasta. Mixed throughout the pasta were medium sized prawns which were very tasty coated in sauce and provided a bit of a fishy bite, they were soft as I bit into them yet had a subtle crunch too so I knew they were cooked perfectly. All in all the textures, colours and flavours mixed perfectly to create a flavoursome and toothsome filling meal for one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
