“ Brand: Asda / Type: Chicken „
I buy my main shopping at Asda. In fact I think Asda are great. Here we have another review on an Asda Product. I had only noticed this super dish a few months ago whilst strolling around the store. I am often on the lookout for new foods or things to try out. Unfortunately I have tended to stick to those things I feel safe with/or am worried about not liking something and then it being a waste of my money!
However, when I spotted this Byriani my first thought were... this looks like it will be good. I was surpriseda s I had never seen anything in this sort of packaging really. The meal is all in a bag. The bag is see-through so you can see all the contents of it. I like this idea actually. I was surprised at how it could all be placed in one simple bag, chicken, rice and all. I was further surprised to see that all I had to do was pop it in the microwave for a few minutes and the whole lot would be cooked!
I will not bore you with the massive list of ingredients; but name the main ones. When you look at the amount of ingredients in this fantastic meal; you will then realise why it tastes so good.

I have noticed that there is a lot of salt in this meal; that's the negative thing about it. This may put some people off, but it doesn't put me off because the taste is superb. It only takes around 5 minutes to cook in the microwave. It comes out very hot. There is plenty of good chicken breast in the dish and one of my favourite ingredients are the small diced courgettes. They really go well with this and come out slightly crunchy which is just how I like them. To be honest this is the best tasting Chicken Byriani I have ever had. I couldn't even imagine how much money this meal would cost if you made it from scratch yourself with the amount of ingredients that you would have to buy. One thing or one ingredient that I do not think is necessary in this meal is the spinach. There is only a little of it, but it comes out far too overcooked and sort of shrivelled mixed in with everything else. I would personally have left out this ingredient and also used a low salt if it were possible. The red peppers taste great in the meal and there is a good amount of rice mixed in.
The portion you get is large; certainly enough for me. You might like to have Nan bread with this meal; that would go well with it.
The current price of this meal is £2.50. I think that is very reasonable especially when you take into account how much something similar would cost in an Indian Restaurant.
This meal is a really good one from Asda; unfortunately you may nor find it in all of their stores; I recently went on holiday and went into the Asda in Highbridge & Burnham and they didn't have this meal available. I wasn't pleased about that!
Whilst I love this dish, the salt content is a let down and for that reason only I am awarding it 4 Dooyoo stars rather than 5.
