Advantages: Tasty, tangy tomato base, Smoky Pepperoni
Disadvantages: Nine in a pack- not great for sharing between two
Being the Asda party food addict that I am and pepperoni pizzas being a favourite of mine, it seemed only natural that one of my favourite products from the Asda Party Food Range would be the Mini Pepperoni Pizzas.
Asda Mini Pepperoni Pizzas are part of the party food range. The packaging of the Mini Pepperoni Pizzas is branded consistently with the Asda party food range; a deep red cardboard box with a very festive look to it. There are 9 mini pizzas per pack. 9 mini pepperoni pizzas is written in white font and there is an image of the cooked pizzas on the front of the packaging.
Inside of the box the pizzas are in three sealed plastic bags. Three pizzas in each packet. Therefore you do not need to store the product in the cardboard box if you are running out of space in the freezer as the sealed plastic bags are much easier to store than the bulky cardboard packaging.
The cooking instructions are on the packaging. The mini pepperoni pizzas should be cooked at 200 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
A pack of 9 mini pepperoni pizzas from Asda cost £1, the same price as the other party food products Asda sell. This is very reasonable and in line with party food sold at other supermarkets. I also feel that these are very well priced as an "evening snack".
***Mini Pepperoni Pizzas***
Once taken out of the oven the mini pepperoni pizzas have a great scent first of all, this is a strong tomato scent mixed with a meaty pepperoni scent.
Appearance wise the pizzas also look very appealing. Each mini pizza is about 5cm in diameter and less than 1cm thick. The pizza base is a light golden colour and is not as thick as a "deep pan" base but not as thin to be classed as " thin crust". The topping of the pizza has a good serving of tomato puree with pieces tiny pieces of tomato on the topping, with cheese and tiny cubes of pepperoni scattered across the top of the pizza. There is a good amount of topping and the topping is almost spilling over the mini pizza base.
When you bite into the pizza it has a perfect crunch to it. The base is crisp without being too hard, yet is not at all soft and doughy. The strong tangy tomato taste hits you immediately however as you chew you get quite a strong creamy cheese flavour mixed in with this. The taste of pepperoni is also very strong and can be tasted as you chew the whole of the mini pizza mainly because the pepperoni pieces are scattered on the topping in mini cubes as opposed to one or two larger pieces. The pepperoni has a very meaty taste to it and it is quite smoky as opposed to spicy. This compliments the tangy tomato taste very well.
Per Pepperoni Pizza
A great example of Party Food from Asda which make perfect snacks. The pizza bases are crispy but still fluffy, a great compromise between deep pan and thin crust pizzas. The topping of the pizza is what really stands out on this party food; a great combination of cheese, tangy tomato and meaty smoky pepperoni pieces. These are great tasting mini pizzas it's just a shame there are an odd number of pizzas in a pack... as it has caused many an argument over Mr Lools as to who gets 5 pizzas and who gets 4!
